Description

Cruse Scotland is looking for experienced counsellors to support bereaved people in their local community. The volunteer team provide a range of specialist support to bereaved people and have a wide range of skills and expertise helping people to overcome obstacles to wellbeing and find ways forward through the challenges that life can bring when dealing with a bereavement.
Like so many support organisations, Cruse Scotland are seeing an increasing demand for their services, and are looking for qualified counsellors to join their local therapeutic team. This is a unique opportunity to provide specialist intervention to support people to gain an insight and understanding into their grief.
Cruise Scotland work within a time limited model of support and ask that all volunteers work with a minimum of two clients at any given time

Organisation aims and objectives

Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland (CBCS) exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people in Scotland. We seek to help anyone experiencing bereavement to understand the grief and cope with their loss. We work primarily through volunteers, providing free care to bereaved people. We also train and educate individuals and organisations who may in turn be able to contribute to the well-being of bereaved people.

Experience required: Cruse Scotland are looking for experienced counsellors who are supportive, non-judgemental, proactive, motivated, and open to change and demonstrate an understanding of the importance and scope of confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also essential. You must be a registered member of COSCA or the BACP and hold a recognised Diploma in Counselling.
Travel details: The volunteer will be part of the East region team. One to One counselling is offered as face to face, online or by telephone. Travel will normally be within the region where the volunteer resides. Online and telephone sessions take place in volunteer’s home.

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We pay expenses for travel to and from location of counselling sessions, mileage rate is 45p per mile.
Training details: The organisation will provide training on bereavement, induction to the organisation, individual clinical supervision, with optional group supervision, frequent and varied CPD opportunities, an annual volunteer conference and management and administrative support from local teams.
