Every month, our Network choose from a range of outreach tasks. These could include town centre stalls, writing to a councillor or MP, sharing our campaigns on social media or contacting local businesses. You're in control of how much or how little you do. Being an Advocate for veganism with The Vegan Society will mean communicating with people in your local community. You'll share the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. You will form part of a local group, headed up by a local Organiser. The Organiser will feed back your collective efforts to staff. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group, for vegan socialising and ideas sharing.

What does the role involve? Assisting your local fundraising group in organising, promoting and taking part in a variety of activities to raise money for Guide Dogs. It costs £58,000 to support one single guide dog throughout it's life, so without our amazing Fundraisers raising money for us, we wouldn't be able to provide our life changing services! Main responsibilities: * Organise and facilitate fundraising events such as street collections, stalls at local fairs, tea parties, garden sales, sponsored events and anything else you can think of! * Attend group meetings * Take collection boxes to local businesses * Keeping track of what we sell on our stalls at events (including the cuddly toys!) * Count donations Please contact VolunteerScotNI@guidedogs.org.uk for more information.

This is a key role within our team as an unfunded rescue we rely on our events and donations to support the continued running of the charity. We are currently recruiting for volunteer(s) to join the board as a Trustee to lead our fundraising efforts and take responsibility for our fundraising/events and be involved in management activities. In addition the Trustee will sit on our Board to ensure the charity is run efficiently and in accordance with our constitution and purpose. The successful applicant will be expected to commit a minimum of 6-8 hours per week to their volunteering and trustee duties. Volunteer Role Summary You will be a passionate individual with experience in fundraising and/or event management and an interest in animal welfare. You will be organized with excellent communication skills, able to write engaging and professional appeals and be confident picking up the phone to follow-up on potential leads. You will be confident using social media platforms to research and promote our events. You will be confident working with a team of enthusiastic volunteers and ensuring individuals are completing actions as promised. You will be a team player, communicating and obtaining feedback from the trustees and our general manager. Volunteer Responsibilities • Investigate and bring creative ideas for fundraising to the table • Oversee and promote fundraising campaigns establishing the actions required for success of the event and where these are delegated, providing oversight. Bring feedback for each event back to the trustee team. • Liaise with General Manager to ensure appropriate staffing levels are available for events and that preparations are completed in a timely manner • Commit to organizing and hosting at least one local event per quarter – includes booking locations, advertising, coordinating with volunteers, venue set-up and promotion of the event. • Outreach to organisations for donations to be used at charity events for auctions, tombolas, prizes etc. • Able to visit Ayr site at least every 2 months (and prior to/ following events) to sort, collect and return event supplies. • Ensure updates and trackers are maintained on the charities online workspace Skills • IT competence (including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Publisher etc.) • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, • Fundraising/event experience preferred • Marketing experience (not critical but must be competent with social media) • Ability to operate within a small, passionate leadership team, • Ability to motivate and encourage volunteers.

We also provide our volunteers with leaflets, banners and workshops so that they are equipped to make the biggest impact possible. Every month, you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat. We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task. It's vital that we measure the impact that we are having, in terms of positive conversations and leaflets handed out. You can also give us ideas you have for future outreach tasks or campaigning. Many Organisers find a huge sense of satisfaction, improvement in self-esteem and enjoy the social side of volunteering in this role. You will also be responsible for welcoming new Advocates in your area. We will let you know when somebody new applies, and you will help them to get involved with any activities. As the main contact for Advocates, this role does require some awareness of safeguarding and data protection procedures and policy. You'll also be the health and safety contact for your group. There will be full training on your role in this, as well as a handbook and ongoing guidance and support. As an Organiser, you will ensure any resources or actions undertaken are in line with our branding and messaging guidelines and make sure that Advocates understand this too.
