Description

Across schools in Dundee, Active Schools provide extra-curricular activities for children in primary and secondary schools. Focusing on sports and physical activity this can be children’s first experience of sports.

With a focus on getting the inactive active, we are keen to provide children with an additional support need more opportunities for being physically active. With support from our staff we are looking for keen coaches to deliver sessions that include ASN children. This can be sport specific or even just fun games, we aim to give children opportunities they wouldn’t
normal get access to.

Organisation aims and objectives

The projects main philosophy has been to create opportunities for children and young people from Dundee’s most deprived areas to participate in physical activity and sport, along with using sport as a tool to raise attainment levels, increase employability prospects and reduce anti-social behaviour levels. The team delivers 6 main programmes; Participation Programme, Diversionary Programme, Learn Thru Sport Programme, Springboard Programme, Volunteer Development Programme and Holiday Programme.

We have a wide range of opportunities available with most of them being weekly session or during the school holidays.

Restrictions

Experience required: Previous experience of coaching/leading sports sessions is desirable but not essential. Having previous experience coaching or in a sporting environment would definitely help the candidates but not essential. Simply willing to learn and help others is all that matters.

Taster details: We can get you along to current session to give you a better understanding of it all
Training details: Coaches will go through an introduction and followed up by regular catch ups to ensure the individuals are supported. A 6 week settling period will allow the candidates to build relationships with the participants and give them a better understanding.
