Now in its 17th year, Glasgow based children’s theatre company Eco Drama are expanding its Board of Trustees.

Eco Drama’s theatre productions, creative learning projects and workshops are delivered in schools, theatres, community venues and festivals across Scotland.

Our goal is to create high quality, meaningful work that inspires greater awareness of nature and reminds us we are part of an amazing living planet. Our productions and projects are unique in that they join up arts experiences with positive, practical action for the environment. To date, the company has worked with over 96,000 children and young people and their communities.

Our existing board comprises individuals passionate about the arts, education, and environmental sustainability. They champion and advocate for Eco Drama, environmental sustainability, and theatre and creative learning for children, young people, and communities across Scotland.

Ideally, we are looking to expand the board by around 2-5 people, and are particularly looking for individuals with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas, as well as someone who would like to Chair the board:

  • Arts and cultural leaders / practitioners
  • Fundraising and Sponsorship expertise
  • Environmental expertise and green champions
  • Finance and business management
  • Community led action on climate change
  • Outdoor learning & learning for sustainability advocates/practitioners

The board of trustees meet regularly (currently four times per year) and work collectively taking decisions at board meetings.

If you would like to apply to join the board, please send a CV and write a short expression of interest outlining the professional experience that you could bring to the board and what you hope to gain from being a board member, ideally one to two pages of A4.

Founded in 2007, Eco Drama engage, entertain & inspire people of all ages to value and care for our natural world. Through inventive theatre, music, storytelling and creative learning, the company are passionate about making work which encourages greater awareness of nature and reminds us we are part of an amazing living planet. We deliver our theatre productions, projects and workshops in schools, festivals, theatres and community venues across Scotland, touring in The Magic Van, a vehicle run on renewable bio diesel.

The Scottish Fisheries Museum is seeking a new Chair and Trustees to shape and guide the organisation’s future direction. They are looking for people who are committed to using their expertise and networks in support of their charitable objectives and goals. Support Session Volunteer

Could you support unpaid carers or people with disabilities to access benefits? Could you help someone find local services? Could you help someone understand the information they have been given about their care and support? Could you support or lead a group of people on a topic of interest? You could help improve the quality of someone’s life. This role is ideal for social work students, an interest in the care sector or retired professionals. Support Session Volunteers help our clients with general advocacy, supporting people with a variety of challenges. This helps us to reduce waitlists and support more individuals by: • Helping clients understand about advocacy • Supporting clients to self-advocate with our tool kits • Signposting clients to other services where required • Supporting the service to deliver “collective” advocacy sessions • Light Touch Advocacy • Supporting advocates with casework • Promotion of services and the organisation • Logging activity onto our systems Volunteer, Ben’s priorities changed after a serious illness. “I wanted to give something back. It’s really rewarding as you get to use your knowledge and skills for a really good purpose.” You’ll develop skills in communication and confidentiality, add experience and knowledge to your CV, and know you’re making a genuine difference to people’s lives.

Breastfeeding Peer Supporter

At the heart of The Breastfeeding Network are volunteers who give their time to support other families in their local communities. They are currently looking for volunteers who are interested in supporting other new mums to be able to breastfeed their babies and who would like to be involved in the setting up of a new weekly group in the Cowdenbeath area of Fife. They are also looking for volunteers to support current groups in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. Their volunteers are required to be trained as breastfeeding peer supporters. This free, accredited training leads to an OCN level 2 qualification. All their volunteers have personal experience of breastfeeding or giving breastmilk to their baby. Both during the training and when volunteering, volunteers can have their babies/toddlers with them. The aim is for training to start in mid-May and for volunteers to be active by the beginning of September 2024.

CPR Champion - Scottish Borders

As a CPR Champion you will support St John Scotland as part of their partnership with Save a Life for Scotland. You will get the opportunity to attend various events within your local area with other St John Scotland CPR Champions and CPR Leads ensuring that participants are equipped to undertake potentially lifesaving bystander CPR according to current policies, regulations and protocol. You will also be trained on demonstrating defibrillator usage to participants.
