The Ayr Ark has 3 main aims: Engage, Equip and Empower young people in South Ayrshire specifically the Ayr and Prestwick areas. We have Multiple youth clubs on during the week and our main one being a Friday night. Alongside this we are in 5 schools across Ayr and Prestwick, mentoring young people to make positive decisions. The Ayr Ark is a safe and supportive environment for young people where they can build life skills and confidence. CURRENT OPPORTUNITES At the Ark we have multiple clubs and activities, and we are looking for volunteers for all areas: Craft club (October- April) - Tuesday 4pm-5pm Empower Autism- Wednesday 4pm-5pm Empower Autism- Thursday 4pm-5pm Friday night drop in- Friday 6pm-9pm We are looking for vibrant individuals who have a passion for working with young people from diverse backgrounds. To get alongside them, chat to them and support them. The Ark is a safe place for young people and our volunteers must be friendly and approachable to our young people. All volunteers will be expected to comply with our volunteer policy and handbook. PVGs will be given to volunteers over 16. Other opportunities: The Ark is very busy behind the scenes. If working face to face with young people isn’t really your thing, we are still looking for lots of other volunteers with skillsets like fundraising, design, social media, finance. Week by week, our volunteers inspire and provide #SkillsForLife for young people aged 4-25. We support Scouting in the Borders, Braid, Craigalmond, East Lothian, Edinburgh North East, Midlothian and Pentland areas Our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re supported by our everyday heroes - adult volunteers who shape young people’s lives for the better and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too. You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers, and skill sharers. We’re talking about minibus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family. Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local town hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread a group of very hungry eleven-year olds - no two Scout meetings are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great. We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life. As long as you're over 18, you can help out as an adult volunteer in Scouting. Don’t fancy working directly with young people? We are a not for profit community interest organisation supporting young people and children's mental health and wellbeing. Our Volunteer roles vary from organising and hosting workshops and assisting with community fundraising projects, face painting, entertainment and supporting local charities and events. We are seeking volunteers to support our community hub learning skills such as customer service, stock taking, cashier skills, hosting and organising. We also have volunteer opportunities for our up and coming projects such as our youth group. A fantastic opportunity to be involved in exciting projects and activities which make a positive difference for children/young people’s mental health and wellbeing and the community. Team Jak provides practical and emotional support to children and young people with cancer and related illnesses, their family and friends and those bereaved. Team Jak Ambassadors can have different roles including family support and fundraising, including - raising awareness and fundraising opportunities such as bag packs, helping at a merchandise stand and collection buckets in supermarkets, schools, colleges, shopping centres and concerts. We will be hosting a number of larger fundraising events in Aberdeen throughout the year with the aim to raise £70,000 to open our Jak’s Den in Aberdeen. Family support roles can be rewarding and involve anything from playing with the children during our activity days and at our child and teenage groups, to making tea and coffee at our support sessions, talking with parents, sorting out merchandise bags and delivering to our newly diagnosed warriors in hospital, and preparing items for events. Volunteers receive initial induction training, ongoing support and any further relevant training opportunities. Team Jak have an Awards scheme and we hold a yearly event dedicated to thanking our volunteers and celebrating their success. All volunteers make a real difference and are greatly appreciated.
