Zambia Therapeutic Art (ZTA) is offering an opportunity to an enthusiastic volunteer to develop their skills and experience in fundraising and marketing the charity. We need to develop a wider profile and supporter base and identify suitable funding opportunities. We are looking for someone who could work flexibly from home with reasonable expenses reimbursed and work alongside Board members who have skills/experience in marketing and fundraising. ZTA is a small Scotland-based charity that has been developing and delivering training in using art as a psychosocial intervention to Mental Health professionals and trainees in Zambia since 2015. The work has progressed since then, receiving enthusiastic support from the Zambian Ministry of Health, hospitals, academic institutions and other NGOs. In pursuit of sustainability 8 Zambian trainers have been certified and have formed an organisation, Therapeutic Art Zambia, which is being supported to expand the training and practice of Therapeutic Art. Our core team of 4 trustees (The Board) and 4 trainers (2 of whom are Trustees) are all volunteers and the Zambian trainers give their time and efforts freely. Local Event Coordinator Role As a small charitable organisation, we are seeking a local event coordinator volunteer to support with our local event activities. This is a key role within our team as an unfunded rescue we rely on our events and donations to support the continued running of the charity. The time required will very throughout the month depending on the number and size of the events being planned. Role Summary You will be an enthusiastic individual ideally with experience of fundraising and/or event management and an interest in animal welfare. You will be organized with great communication skills and be confident picking up the phone to follow-up on potential leads. You will be confident using social media platforms to research and promote our events. You will be confident working with a team of enthusiastic volunteers and ensuring individuals are completing actions as promised. You will be a team player, communicating and obtaining feedback from the trustees and our general manager. Volunteer Responsibilities • Investigate and bring creative ideas for fundraising events to the table • Organise and oversee events including: o Co-ordinating with general manager for volunteer support o Working with venues and suppliers o Reaching out for donations and supplies to support the event o Promoting the event to local communities o Set-up of venue o Managing the volunteers on the day o Reporting back to the team on how the event went and any lessons for next time • Commit to organizing and hosting at least one local event per quarter – includes booking locations, advertising, coordinating with volunteers, venue set-up and promotion of the event. • Able to visit Ayr site at least every 2 months (and prior to/ following events) to sort, collect and return event supplies and donations
