Description

Make a difference to a local family.

Home-Start volunteers work alongside families to give compassionate and confidential support, tailored to each family’s needs.

Group volunteers offer practical and emotional support within a group setting, assist the co-ordinator in setting up the creche, assist children in various activities, assist with snacks in the group and are supported by a Co-ordinator.

Organisation aims and objectives

Home-Start Dundee is a local charity supporting families with at least one child under the age of 5, who are struggling with the challenges of everyday life. We support families from all backgrounds who are going through challenging times. We support parents who are experiencing isolation, poor mental or physical health, bereavement and parenting difficulties.

Volunteers are required to commit to 2-3 hours a week.

Restrictions

Volunteers require to be a parent or have parenting experience in order to support families.
Experience required: Volunteers are required to have parenting experience and can be all ages (over 18) and from all backgrounds. No qualifications are necessary - just listening skills, understanding, have discretion and be able to make a commitment to the families. We welcome a variety of skills and interests. Volunteers should have a non-judgmental attitude and understand about the pressures of bringing up a family.

Training details: Preparation course including child development, values and attitudes, safeguarding etc. A range of face to face, online training and ongoing training is provided.

The RVS Cuppa Club are one of over 100 affiliated peer support groups with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland. They support people who have had strokes, or are living with other long-term health conditions, to come together and help them live their lives to the full. Group Coordinator Volunteers

This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about community development and working with communities to use their own assets to make a real difference to improving life in the Multiple Sclerosis community? Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with volunteers, although this is not essential. More importantly they will be a great communicator with fantastic organisational skills, who will play a key part in looking after our volunteers, helping them to grow and ensuring our volunteering processes run smoothly and efficiently. They will be self-motivated with a naturally collaborative working style; and thrive working in a small, enthusiastic team making a difference to the MS community. Working with the Volunteer Support Team, the Group Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of volunteering, delegating work and supporting the effective development and delivery of services in the area. You will help to support and retain volunteers to deliver our services – leading on volunteer recruitment, communication, and stewardship of the Coordinating Team with a commitment to equality and inclusion as well as healthy and safe working practices. Group Support Volunteers

As a group support volunteer, you would volunteer alongside another member/s of the team to assist with group activities including arts, crafts, cooking, sports, music which can help to improve the health and wellbeing or our young people. The impact you can make... You would look to introduce young people to new activities to help them learn new skills and develop new interests. Group support volunteers can volunteer from age 14 and over and don’t have to have previous experience of volunteering or working with young people. Boccia Group Leader Volunteers

Inchgarth Community Centre provide a fantastic programme of activities for the community with the tremendous help of volunteers. Inchgarth has over 170 sessions of activity per week-serving every age group and section of the community. As a big and vibrant community centre, we offer a large range of activities for all ages and welcome a range of charities at the community centre. We have a great opportunity for people to help as Boccia Group Leader Volunteers at the community centre. Boccia is a seated bowl game for people with additional support needs and/or impaired movement. We are looking for motivated people to help lead the group by organising the games, making sure everyone is playing and sometimes organise wee competitions. All volunteers are greatly appreciated and provided with excellent support.
