Description

By providing company and companionship, volunteers will be enhancing the patient experience and helping reduce any feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Activities include:

  • Chatting and listening to patients
  • Reading to patients
  • Playing board games
  • Reminiscence activities using discussion, books and other resources

NHS Highland is one of the fourteen regions of NHS Scotland. Inverness and Nairn is served by Raigmore Hospital and Nairn Town and County.

Frequency and commitment details

1-2 hours per week but we can be very flexible. We also offer study leave for our volunteers who are school or university pupils.

Experience required: - Helpful, friendly and caring - Ability to use own initiative - Confidence in a hospital setting
Travel details: There are vacancies available at: - Raigmore Hospital, Inverness - Nairn Town & County Hospital - Invergordon County Community Hospital
Minimum age: 16

Support

Taster details: An expression of interest visit will be arranged at the site of the preferred hospital in the first instance.
