Our volunteer tutors are responsible for developing a person-centred tutoring experience. Our volunteers focus on developing a person-centred tutoring experience through relationship building to instil confidence and increase motivation and educational attainment. Volunteers from a range of diverse backgrounds and experiences are welcome.

We are looking for volunteers to support our Learning Hubs in Glasgow. Each hub is attended by approximately 10 primary school aged children who need support with their homework, numeracy skills and/or literacy skills. The children are supported by VTO Staff and volunteers (comprising of adult volunteers and volunteers from neighbouring high schools)

What will I be doing?
•Supporting Senior pupils to work one to one with a primary aged child.
•Assisting VTO Staff with the overall management of the learning hub.
•Helping children with their homework and in the areas of numeracy and literacy

When & Where will I be volunteering?
The hubs run on one weekday evening after school and only during school term time. We have volunteer vacancies across Glasgow.

Support:
Volunteer induction training is delivered in a dynamic and interactive session and a timetable of additional (optional) training is made available throughout the year focussing on topics such as dyslexia, Autism, Care Experience and EAL.

You will be allocated a VTO Learning Communities Coordinator to support you whilst volunteering.
You will have full access to our online tutor forum where tutors share ideas on how to get the best of their tutoring experience.

If you are interested please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow at info@volunteerglasgow.org
