Barnardo’s Befrienders volunteer with young people a 1:1 basis, offering practical assistance and emotional support to build their self-confidence, coping mechanisms and positive relationships. The support could be focused on a particular need, such as confidence building, or it could be more focused around supporting the young person to access local community groups.
They are looking for volunteers with a passion for making a difference in young people’s lives, with a friendly and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people, empowering them to take steps towards improving their situation and achieving their goals.
There are roles across Fife, and full training and support is provided.
To assist children and their families to prevent family breakdown through the provision of intensive assessment and support services including parenting work.\n1:1 work with children;\n

Experience required: Volunteers should be reliable, punctual and trustworthy, as well as approachable and welcoming. Passion, enthusiasm, compassion, understanding and having an open-minded approach are also important for this role. Being passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, young people and families is the most important things. Volunteers will preferably have some experience of working with children, young people and families.
Travel details: This opportunity covers the whole of Fife. Access to a car would be essential.

Expenses details: Volunteers submit monthly expense by the 1st of the months by submitting a claim on excel. These cover milage and any small charges that may be incurred during a session.
