Dunfermline Greenspace is a local organisation set up to benefit the community of Dunfermline and to preserve, restore and improve the environment. They aim to use public greenspace to benefit and protect the wellbeing, health, recreation and leisure of the community, while also providing education, training and volunteering opportunities. They are currently looking for new trustees to join their board.

As a board member, you will attend monthly meetings and make decisions on behalf of the charity. If you have a passion for greenspaces, the environment, and heritage, and want to make Dunfermline a better and more accessible place for the local community, this could be the ideal role for you.

Restrictions

Experience required: Dunfermline Greenspace is ideally looking for trustees with experience of accounting, business, or charity development, however a connection to Dunfermline and a passion for restoring community greenspaces is most important.
Travel details: Board meetings take place at Dunfermline Greenspace, Caretakers House, Baldridgeburn Community Centre, KY12 9EH.
Minimum age: 18

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Expenses reimbursed at 45p per mile.
Training details: All new board members will have induction to their role and ongoing support from existing board members.

Orkney ZeroWaste are currently seeking to recruit Trustees (Directors) and would welcome expressions of interest from people of all backgrounds who have a passion for reducing, reusing and recycling waste in order to help protect Orkney’s rich natural environment. Trustees are expected to commit to attending meetings, where possible, as well as to join suitable Sub-Committees/ groups, based on their skills and expertise. We also encourage Trustees to engage in other activities where possible to support the work of the charity.

Volunteers like you are central to what our service is all about - ensuring our Bureau is rooted within Shetland community and bringing your own gifts and experience to help ensure that people in the Shetland Community have access to the advice they need. Our burau is a charity, set up for public benefit, and one of the main duties of a trustee is to be responsible for the strategic management of the bureau and set a vision for the organisation. The Board must ensure that it adheres to all legal requirements (e.g. company, charity and employment). Good governance and setting standards as an exemplary employer are key.

Based in Kirkcaldy, Nourish Support Centre provides much needed and life-changing support to families in Fife who have additional support needs. Having a child with disabilities affects the whole family and not only causes worries and anxieties, it often causes loneliness, isolation, poor mental health and poverty. Providing holistic support in a one stop shop, they know the different challenges facing families with additional support needs and they understand the importance of being able to access a wide range of emotional, practical, and financial support in one place. Nourish are looking for a board member to attend regular board meetings (typically monthly). The estimated time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per month, including meeting preparation and follow-up. Join Nourish in making a difference and contributing to the success of their organization.

Following a very successful International Street Food festival last year we are launching a new Community Interest Company to make this an annual event. We want to demonstrate how much our area benefits from having people of different backgrounds and cultures enrich our society. The festival is a mix of community groups whom we help to take part and commercial enterprises who pay for their stalls. We are a small friendly group and we really want to make this an exciting and fun enterprise. Please consider joining us!
