A wide range of opportunities are available and include: Fosterers – a spare room to care for a cat until a new home is found. All equipment and food etc provided. Home checkers – visiting prospective new cat owners. Fostering support and co ordination – helping fosterers and organising cat food distribution, equipment etc Equipment inventory – keeping an up to date list of all equipment and its location. Helpline – taking phone calls from the public. Food store coordinator – making sure fosterers have sufficient food of an appropriate type and caring for supplies. Kitten socialising – assisting fosterers to socialise young kittens to meeting different people and get used to them. TNR Trap, Neuter and Return – trapping feral cats, taking them to the vets to be neutered and then releasing them back to site. Involves learning about the colony and getting them used to being fed in a trap; arranging neutering with the vets; keeping the cats safe until fully recovered and able to rejoin the colony; arranging for kittens young enough to be socialised to be fostered. Transport – cats to vets etc; goods and equipment to where needed. Collecting and sorting donated goods. Storing donated goods, equipment and cat food. Fundraiser – to organise fundraising events. On line auctions – organise online auctions of donated goods. Stall helpers – assisting on stalls. Crafts – making crafts to sell. Grant applications – find and apply for appropriate grants and funding. Sunday tea staff – assisting at Sunday teas. Trustee – joining the trustees. Marketing. DIY – DIY skills to help maintain pens and equipment

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) encourages and supports people aged 50+ to volunteer in their local communities. Across Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire we run 5 projects involving hundreds of volunteers. These include volunteering activities within local hospitals and primary schools, charitable knitting groups, a walking group for older people, and a community Handyperson Service. We are looking for new Volunteer Leaders who can help ensure that our groups and activities run smoothly. For example, as a Schools Volunteer Leader you will help us to recruit new volunteers, and making sure that existing volunteers are supported and enjoying their volunteering experience. We currently have vacancies for school leaders in Stirling, Falkirk and in Clackmannanshire. Instead, if you would prefer to become a Handyperson Leader, you will help to ensure that tasks needed by older people are "assigned" to an appropriate volunteer, and that all volunteers are supported. We currently have a vacancy for a Handyperson Leader in Stirling and Clackmannanshire. Or perhaps you have a new idea for an activity or group, that older people could take part in? We'd love to help you set up a group and can provide all ongoing support! The volunteering hours are fully flexible and we will be able to work around your availability. As a small charity we rely on the help of the many volunteers who give their time and their talents to us freely. We always need dedicated and reliable volunteers that can help out and new volunteers are always welcome. Our main volunteering opportunity involves working directly with our animals, helping with feeding, walking and general kennel care. New volunteers start off by ‘buddying up’ with other current volunteers, who can show them their usual routines per rota slot with a view to eventually working independently. There are 3 daily slots - Morning, Lunch & Teatime and slots can be chosen based on personal availability. Volunteering not only benefits our animals but also provides lots of benefits for our volunteers too including: - Meeting like-minded people who are passionate about animal welfare - Gaining new skills or developing existing ones - Gaining a sense of achievement by doing something rewarding - Putting something back into the community - Developing personal skills and confidence Please note, we rescue dogs of various sizes and on occasion, some of our animals can have certain struggles which we will try to help them with while they’re with us before rehoming. Initial confidence around dogs would be ideal, however working together with a buddy and meeting all the different dogs can help develop this. You need to be aged 18 or over & have easy & regular access to Facebook so you can get added to our private group, where the weekly rota gets shared, along with many other discussions/notices regarding the animals for various reasons eg. health/feeding/ temporary practice changes etc. Under 18's may be able to volunteer, provided they are accompanied by an adult. Please note that if you wish to volunteer at the centre, it does involve physical work and due to our location your own transport is essential. You will need to complete a volunteer application form where we ask for a reference and return via email to arcarbroath@outlook.com. You will then be invited out for a small tour of the centre & a brief demonstration of what happens at a suitable time. After a period of time helping out in the kennels, there may be opportunities to volunteer in other roles within the charity.
