We are seeking a committed and dynamic individual to serve as the Chair of our charity. As the Charity Chair, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting our organization as we work towards our mission of reducing the ripple that alcoholism has on Scottish communities. This is a volunteer position that requires a passion for our cause, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive positive change. Responsibilities: 1. Leadership and Governance: • Provide strategic leadership to the board, ensuring the charity's mission is fulfilled through effective governance. • Foster a positive and inclusive board culture that aligns with our commitment to linking individuals to a life unburdened by someone else's drinking. 2. Strategic Planning: • Work collaboratively with the board to develop and implement a strategic plan that enhances our ability to link individuals to support, information, and peers. • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of strategic objectives, adjusting as necessary to better serve our community. • Stay connected to the communities and the needs of those we serve. 3. Fundraising and Advocacy: • Collaborate with the board and staff to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies that enable us to expand our reach and impact. • Advocate for our mission, raising awareness of the challenges individuals face and the support we provide. 4. Financial Oversight: • Work closely with the treasurer and finance committee to ensure the financial health of the organisation, supporting our mission to create sustained change. 5. Team Collaboration: • Collaborate with board to provide guidance and support in the implementation of programs that facilitate our mission. • Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement as we strive to better link individuals to the support they need. • Build strong networks and connections with the alcohol support community. The Scottish Fisheries Museum is seeking a new Chair and Trustees to shape and guide the organisation’s future direction. They are looking for people who are committed to using their expertise and networks in support of their charitable objectives and goals. The Board is responsible for leadership, direction, and oversight to a small team of nineteen, mostly part time, paid staff, plus significant volunteer support, which is vitally important to the museum. Located in Anstruther, the Scottish Fisheries Museum was founded in 1969 to collect, record and interpret the history of the fishing industry in Scotland. The charity holds over 65,000 artefacts, including historic fishing vessels and two operational vessels, recognised as a collection of national significance. The museum has come through the difficult post Covid period, but there are undoubtedly ongoing challenges. They are looking to develop their resilience, combining their local context and national significance.

Providing leadership for the board of trustees in their role of setting the strategy and policy of the organisation; planning the annual cycle of board meetings and set the agendas; chairing and facilitating the board meetings; giving directions to board policy making; monitoring that decisions taken at board meetings are implemented; representing the organisation at appropriate events, meetings or functions; acting as a spokesperson for the organisation where appropriate; protect and manage the property of the organisation; attend meetings and read papers in advance of meetings; attend sub-committee meetings as appropriate; participate in other tasks as they arise from time to time, such as interviewing new staff, helping with fundraising; keep informed about the activities of the organisation and wider issues which affect its work.

Barrhead Community Sports Hub (BCSH) are looking for a Chair Person who can represent the local community and keep the organisation on track to identify and meet the needs of local people within the aims of the organisation. No experience in sport is required however, good knowledge of the Barrhead community and a willingness to bring organisations together to improve the contributions they make will be a key element of this role. Good communication and organisational skills will be helpful as the Chair Person will be expected to attend committee meetings, around 6 times a year, and maintain communication with the rest of the committee and local Community Sport Hub Officer between meetings.
