Organiser for Community Tea Party

  • VO99877

Description

Isolation and Loneliness are on the rise especially with Older People in the Community. We are looking for organised and empathetic people to help with our tea parties. Could you co-ordinate and help welcome guests and volunteers to our tea parties? Our tea parties are once a month for two hours, so this is perfect for fitting around your own availability and lifestyle.

You will help arrange a schedule for Tea Party hosts and communicate timings with the group and of course stay for some refreshments and a good blether. Normally the tea party will last for about 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon and is hosted by other Volunteers in their home. It is the same local group you volunteer with so you can make some real connections to your community and the Older Guests. All training is remote, and you are supported by our Support team in your role.

Organisation aims and objectives

Re-engage aims to relieve the loneliness and isolation of socially isolated older people by developing intergenerational groups that meet regularly and where older people can get to know peers and other people in their communities. Volunteers provide support through driving the older people to the group's social gatherings and making sure that the group meets regularly and by hosting the groups.
