Description

-About Organisation-
At Over The Wall, we help children, young people and their families, reach beyond the boundaries of their health challenges to discover a world of mischief, magic and new possibilities. We do this by providing free of charge, transformative activity camps throughout the UK.

-The Role-
You will be part of the Media Crew at an Over The Wall residential camp, supporting and empowering children and young people with long-term health conditions.

For children and young people experiencing health challenges, their quality of life is adversely affected by isolation and their inability to participate in many of the everyday activities enjoyed by their friends and peers. This often results in a growing lack of self-esteem and confidence which can become a barrier to future growth and development.

At our residential camps, we offer a medically and physically safe environment that allows young people affected by health challenges to step outside of their comfort zones, establish friendships and build their confidence through meaningful and exciting activities.

-Scotland Camps-
5th-7th July for the Family Camp at Strathallan School, Perth, PH2 9EG. This camp is for families to come together, as long as one child or young person is aged 8-17 years. Accommodation at Strathallan School is indoor beds, not tents!

8th-12th July for the Health Challenge and Siblings Camp at Strathallan School, Perth, PH2 9EG. This camp is for children or young person aged 8-17 years with a health challenge and / or their siblings to attend. They will be allocated a team based on age (8-10, 11-13, 13-15 and 15-17) and all activities will be targeted to their age group. There will also be medical care run by our own nurses, with the help of doctors, nurses and paramedics doing home from home care.

-Role Description-

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to capture all the magic moments of camp! We will provide you with the equipment and time to capture and collate the spectacular moments at camp. You will put these together to create a slide show which is shown at the end of camp to everyone to look back on all the transformative experiences they had at camp.

The media crew will also be assigned a cabin group to support outside of media duties. When supporting a cabin group, you will be in a team of fantastic volunteers building fantastic relationships with campers. You may also be empowering campers during activities, sitting with campers at mealtimes, and encouraging campers during evening ‘cabin chats’.

Do you have some photographic or videography experience and have a flair for capturing special moments? If you are looking for an amazing and rewarding experience where you can help put the child back into childhood, whilst having lots of fun, then apply to be part of the Media Crew now!

-Other Information-
Volunteers will be supported before and during camp to ensure you have all the information you need for camp to be a great experience for you and the campers. Pre-camp calls will be organised for you to ask questions and meet other volunteers. You will be asked to arrive at camp one day early (or 10am on Friday for Family Camp) to complete training, such as Safeguarding and
Behaviour Management. Lastly, any new volunteers will also be placed with experienced volunteers and a support team will be present at all times.

If you are interested please click the ‘apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email.
