Voluntary Work, Real Outcomes Our incredible team of volunteer consultants inject a wide range of professional skills and lived experience that provides invaluable support to community organisations. You might bring knowledge of strategy and project development, human resources, marketing or financial planning from your day-to-day career to support long-term sustainability and growth of a local group that is shaping the lives of young people. Or you can lend your personal experience in fundraising, mentoring or creating inclusion to support leaders, trustees or changemakers within a grassroots club or group. Knowledge of sport is optional. Enthusiasm is essential. And whatever your skillset, Sported will put it to use among the 3,000 incredible groups we assist across the UK. There are a number of ways to provide support. With flexible time commitments, and opportunities to volunteer remotely, it’s even easier to get started supporting members across the UK. You’ll have the guidance of regional and national Sported staff, and support is available whenever you need it. • Short-term placements – Focused on one topic area or specific challenge, placements usually last about 6 sessions. • Long-term placements – Placements span a series of months and encompass multiple topics, or a single complex subject. • One-off support – Kickstarts are semi-structured, informal chats to learn more about a group’s strengths and challenges and recommend a course of action. • Leadership coaching – Support group leaders develop their own leadership skills • Specific project work – focussed projects with specific timeframes and themes • Facilitating/delivering webinars – Inform and train members, volunteers and Sported staff across a variety of topics • Sported support – Help Sported create resources to share with the network Support For Them – and For You Our volunteer consultants leave a lasting impact to ensure groups survive so that young people thrive. You will work with the inspirational faces of community organisations and immerse yourself in their challenges. You will be supported by our regional and national teams and Sported’s central Volunteer Services team and have the opportunity both to share and develop your own skills. Our volunteer consultants claim that making a positive difference to our members is what they enjoy most about being part of Sported. And we know representation matters - which is why we want our volunteers to reflect the diversity of the community groups we work with. The role of Volunteers within our community was vitally important. It is recognised that support is required for a number of vulnerable and elderly people so Community Support organisations are available to provide support to those who need it most. Opportunities exist to help with administration, coordinating volunteers, shopping, driving to medical appointments, light gardening, check-in calls and collecting prescriptions for those who struggle to go out and about. There are many activities you can get involved in to help make a difference in your local community. The 70/30 Campaign is aiming to reduce child abuse and neglect by 70% by 2030. As a 70/30 Ambassador you will be empowering your local community to protect our children by spreading awareness and gaining support to prevent child abuse and neglect from happening in the first place. You will gain new skills, and be part of a large network of volunteers and professionals, while making a real difference in your local community and across the UK. The role is very flexible and depends on your skills and on the needs in your local area, but you can take part in a range of activities, such as: spreading awareness with people you know and on social media; fundraising; organising events; engaging with MPs, MSPs, AMs and councillors; engaging with local press; expanding your local 70/30 group. Ambassadors will take part in a training session with a member of the team and are invited to join the bi-monthly national conference call with other ambassadors across the country. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) encourages and supports people aged 50+ to volunteer in their local communities. Across Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire we run 5 projects involving hundreds of volunteers. These include volunteering activities within local hospitals and primary schools, charitable knitting groups, a walking group for older people, and a community Handyperson Service. We are looking for new Volunteer Leaders who can help ensure that our groups and activities run smoothly. For example, as a Schools Volunteer Leader you will help us to recruit new volunteers, and making sure that existing volunteers are supported and enjoying their volunteering experience. We currently have vacancies for school leaders in Stirling, Falkirk and in Clackmannanshire. Instead, if you would prefer to become a Handyperson Leader, you will help to ensure that tasks needed by older people are "assigned" to an appropriate volunteer, and that all volunteers are supported. We currently have a vacancy for a Handyperson Leader in Stirling and Clackmannanshire. Or perhaps you have a new idea for an activity or group, that older people could take part in?
