Volunteers like you are central to what our service is all about - ensuring our Bureau is rooted within Shetland community and bringing your own gifts and experience to help ensure that people in the Shetland Community have access to the advice they need. Our burau is a charity, set up for public benefit, and one of the main duties of a trustee is to be responsible for the strategic management of the bureau and set a vision for the organisation. The Board must ensure that it adheres to all legal requirements (e.g. company, charity and employment). Good governance and setting standards as an exemplary employer are key.

Dunfermline Greenspace is a local organisation set up to benefit the community of Dunfermline and to preserve, restore and improve the environment. They aim to use public greenspace to benefit and protect the wellbeing, health, recreation and leisure of the community, while also providing education, training and volunteering opportunities. They are currently looking for new trustees to join their board. As a board member, you will attend monthly meetings and make decisions on behalf of the charity. If you have a passion for greenspaces, the environment, and heritage, and want to make Dunfermline a better and more accessible place for the local community, this could be the ideal role for you.

The Trustee will provide direction for the Centre on a wide range of matters with due care and diligence. They will provide strategic overview in terms of purpose and delivery of services. They will develop forwarding planning systems which consider current and future factors which impact on services we provide. They will closely monitor and review external and internal factors which influence the need for services within South Ayrshire. Accountability The Trustee is accountable to the Board, contractual partners, regulatory bodies such as OSCR and Care Inspectorate. Trustee’s manage the Centre effectively and regularly meet to oversee the activities and services provided by the Centre. They have a vital role in terms of setting and reviewing policies and procedures in consultation with all staff within the Centre and if appropriate partner agencies. The Committee shall ensure that our Annual Report is completed, and our AGM is held within the timescales set out within the Constitution of the Centre. Interest of the Charity Trustees are expected to put the interest of the charity before their own interests or the interests of any other person or organisation. Applicants must be committed to the ethos/aims and objectives of the Centre. Charitable Purpose Trustee much ensure the charity is operating and fulfilling its charitable purpose as outlined within its constitution. Following a very successful International Street Food festival last year we are launching a new Community Interest Company to make this an annual event. We want to demonstrate how much our area benefits from having people of different backgrounds and cultures enrich our society. The festival is a mix of community groups whom we help to take part and commercial enterprises who pay for their stalls. We are a small friendly group and we really want to make this an exciting and fun enterprise. Please consider joining us!
