We are looking for reliable volunteers to assist our gardener to maintain and develop the grounds. You will be volunteering as part of team led by an experienced gardener, no real skills or gardening background are necessary. Gardening tasks include: removing weeds, grass cutting, planting new flower beds, slab cleaning, hedge cutting and more general gardening jobs. All tools, equipment and safety gear will be available and provided. Opportunities to volunteer at the garden are available from 10am - 2pm between Monday and Friday, and no commitment to a regular slot is necessary. The garden and overall centre are wheelchair accessible. As well as an opportunity to do some gardening, this is also an opportunity to socialise. Who can resist the chance to help restore a 'lost' 15th century walled garden here in Edinburgh? Or to get fit without paying gym costs? We are keen to recruit volunteers for a wide variety of gardening tasks. You don't have to have specific gardening skills – enthusiasm counts. A wide variety of activities are involved in the restoration project – digging, clearing, weeding, planting, general repair and maintenance of sheds, greeting, helping with planning, harvesting seasonal produce being some of them.

Volunteers can get involved with various aspects including planting bulbs, making up containers, digging, clearing ground areas. If you have your own greenhouse you can help by bringing on plants.

Aberdeenshire council are currently seeking volunteers for 2 or 3 hrs a week (times entirely flexible to help maintain new food growing areas in the grounds of Primary Schools and Care Homes - watering, weeding and general tidying. Later in the season harvesting the produce. Both gardening beginners and the more experienced folk are welcome.
