Description

The Primrose Community Trust are looking for youth work volunteers (16+) to help at various sessions for young people in Crossgates in Fife. The sessions would involve setting up, taking part in the sessions, and encouraging young people to be active participants, tidying up, taking part in the evaluation at the end of sessions. The sessions will be working with the youth work team and will be on a rota basis, so will not have to volunteer every week if this is not manageable.
Junior Youth club drop-in: Monday 5.45-8pm (8-12yrs)

Lego Club sessions: Tuesday 3-5pm (7-12yrs)

Senior Youth Club drop-in: Fridays 6.30-9pm (12-15yrs)

Organisation aims and objectives

The Primrose Community Trust works within Crossgates village in Fife. The trust works within 5 pillars: Community Engagement, Health & Fitness, Youth & childrens development, Sports & Recreation, Education & Heritage. The Youth and Community pillar provides youth provision for the young people of Crossgates to have a place of belonging and establish good relationships with their peers. Having local amenities to get young people involved in activities on their doorstep. We also hope to harness enthusiasm and opportunities for young people to volunteer and participate at various levels throughout the programme. Our sessions are volunteer ran along with our Youth and Community worker. We can establish award routes for those volunteering with us.

Each session lasts 3 hours. Volunteers are asked to commit to volunteering for 3 months.

Restrictions

Experience required: Primrose Community Trust hope to have a team of volunteers that is helpful, friendly, supportive and encouraging of young people. They want them to become part of the youth work team of volunteers and establish good relationships with young people, adding to the already existing safe space they have access to. They would like their volunteers to have some experience with children and young people, but this is not essential, so long as they are able to talk to people and be a positive addition to the team and young people attending.
Travel details: Crossgates Community Centre on the Main Street of Crossgates. Crossgates is accessible by the BE9 bus service and has on street parking if coming by car.
Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses details: Primrose Community Trust can reimburse public transport rates and can discuss the potential of mileage if driving.
Training details: Induction will explain the policies and procedures of the Trust, what is needed in the sessions, tour of the building and health and safety procedures.
