Description

You’re Never Too Old supports members living with long-term conditions to support their journey and offer a friendly, safe and stimulating environment for members to thrive in. The group is a social lunch club. We need a friendly, enthusiastic person who enjoys working with people in their local community. Your duties would include helping to run the club, chatting with group members and working alongside the other helpers. No specific experience is needed.

Organisation aims and objectives

We carry out stimulating and meaningful activities and outings Picking people up from their homes and bringing them together on a Monday and Tuesday to help improve their wellbeing and stop social isolation.

Increase your confidence and gain valuable experience supporting others. Alongside a co-facilitator, you will facilitate an online support group once or twice a month for 1-2 hours. You’ll be welcoming people, encouraging discussion and dealing sensitively with issues or conflict that may arise within the group meeting. You’ll play an important role in ensuring meetings run to time and that everyone has an opportunity to share if they choose to do so. You’ll be responsible for emailing meeting reminders to group participants and submitting brief statistics to Bipolar Scotland after each meeting. You'll get regular support and supervision from a dedicated role manager.

Virtual Peer Support Volunteer (Long Covid)

Everyone has the right to live life to the full. After a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or a stroke, many experience fear and isolation and struggle with the impact on their lives. CHSS have an established online support group for those living with Long Covid. It's a safe space for those affected by Long Covid to talk about their condition, share their experiences, and get support to live their lives to the full. We are looking for volunteers to help run the online group which on every Tuesday 2-3pm on Zoom.
