Description

The purpose of the role of Volunteer Minibus Driver is to safely provide transport services to the local community to allow them to access East Kilbride Town Centre. You will drive our 9-seat minibus, equipped with accessibility lift for mobility equipment, on designated routes and/or to local events with the support of our Project Team.

The volunteer will:-

  • Follow a planned route within the East Kilbride Locality to the Town Centre to ensure a smooth and professional service.
  • Provide a bus service from community hub in the town centre to local events put on by our Project Teams.
  • Safely operate the accessibility lift and assist passengers appropriately onto the bus.
  • Assist passengers to board and disembark safely. Awareness of good vehicle maintenance, and reporting issues promptly to the office team.
  • Complete paperwork for each shift, including vehicle safety checks and mileage records.

Organisation aims and objectives

(1) To provide relief for persons suffering from mental or physical disability, illness or impairment and in particular those who have sensory impairment or limited mobility, and with particular reference to those who are resident in East Kilbride and environs (the Operating Area) (2) To advance education on all aspects of disability, and in particular disability involving sensory impairment or limited mobility (3) To promote and/or provide training in skills of all kinds, in fields connected with disability.

No Gender Restriction, Must have clean drivers license with D1 clean PVG.

Expenses details: There should be no reason for driver volunteer should need use their on money but if so a monthly expense form can me submitted.
Training details: As a volunteer driver you will be required to provide pass our drivers license checks before being asked to complete a route alongside our senior member of staff to ensure we are confident of your abilities. We will also provide a info session, required to be attended in person, where we will run through reporting accident policy and many other important policies as driver. You will also require MiDAS training which is specialist training for the operation of minibus and accessibility tail lifts. We will cover costs for any additional training.
