We are looking for Winter Warriors to help grit our local pavements and keep Stockethill, Cornhill, and the surrounding areas safe for residents of all ages and physical abilities. As a Winter Warrior, you will be a part of a team of local residents. Warriors work in pairs to grit pavements and keep the pavements safe to use. The team receives advance warning of bad weather and our Coordinator is responsible for managing the Warriors to ensure best use of resources. You will receive training and all equipment is provided. A fantastic opportunity to help make a real difference for people and the community during winter. All volunteer help is greatly appreciated. Linking Lives UK has been working hard to respond effectively to the impact of Covid-19 particularly among those already affected by social isolation and loneliness on a daily basis. Aberdeen Two’s Company is a local telephone befriending service that connects volunteers with local people (‘Link Friends’) through telephone contact. The aim of our telephone befriending is to help reduce the impact that social isolation by making connections with others. This is especially important at this time of COVID-19 Crisis in the UK. Being a Community Facilitator is all about delivering a variety of lifesaving first aid skills in community engagement workshops and projects, within local communities, and primary and secondary schools. A lot of these projects involve talking about and demonstrating the basics of first aid to community groups that can include children, young people, and vulnerable adults. The role is all about promoting first aid awareness and helping to achieve our mission to create a nation of lifesavers. Minimum hours is 20 per year. Skills: Able to work as part of a team, excellent communication skills, excellent organisation and planning skills, positive attitude, flexible and adaptable to needs of charity. Interests: Please apply if you are interested in supporting your local community or interested in first aid, and/or looking to expand and develop your public speaking skills. Experience: Please apply if you have experience of public speaking, a basic understanding of first aid, or maybe you’re studying a medical related degree (or even have one) and looking to volunteer.

*Help people who feel alone - just a few hours a week from you could make the future brighter for someone experiencing loneliness or social isolation.* Hand of Solace is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation which helps people who may be lonely or at risk of loneliness and social isolation. -What our volunteers do: Loneliness and social isolation affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Being or feeling alone can have a devastating impact on people’s health and wellbeing, as well as on communities, hospitals and other public services. Through just a few hours a week, you could provide a huge help for someone experiencing loneliness or social isolation. -Support for people and volunteering during COVID-19 Pandemic: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our befriending service to our older people has now transitioned from face to face to phone/video contact. We now also offer shopping, prescription collection etc. where necessary to the older people.
