Description

Be a mentor to an adult individual (a parent referred through the employability pathway in Aberdeenshire) and through discussion is on board with the benefits that can be gained through a mentor mentee relationship • Meet/communicate with your mentee weekly at a time or place that suits both parties, face to face in the local community, or on a video chat, or call for a minimum of 1 hour. This is flexible and can be broken down into bite size chunks if need be. • Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate. • Acknowledging the mentee’s strengths, skills and experiences and encouraging them to find ways to use them. Be a positive role model developing a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and appropriate boundary setting • Assist the mentee to consider and identify long term personal life/career goals and outcomes • Assist the mentee to identify short term personal goals and aims and support them to work towards these in a planned and thought through way. E.g., conflict resolution at work, time management, self-confidence, presentation skills, communication, identifying support systems etc • Follow Project Scotland P&P’s as detailed in induction and training • Attend training and induction sessions as required.
