Description

Volunteers will be sorting donations as they come into the shop as well as arrange new window displays to bring customers into the shop. Volunteers also serve customers and offer assistance if needed.

Volunteers work as a team to keep th shop clean and tidy.

This opportunity is both Duke of Edinburgh and Saltire Awards friendly.

Volunteers will support the shop manager/supervisor and other store volunteers.

Organisation aims and objectives

Strathcarron Hospice provides specialist palliative care in patient and community services to the people of Forth Valley and North Lanarkshire. Strathcarron Compassionate Communities team run a number of projects across the area which support people and neighbourhoods to create a community where people with long term or life threatening conditions can live well, right up to the end. Strathcarron Compassionate Neighbours are volunteers from our local communities who are trained and supported to offer a listening ear and community connection to people experiencing loneliness and isolation as a result of illness, caring or bereavement.

Frequency and commitment details

Shop is opwn 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday. Shop is opwn 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday. Minimim of 3 hours per week.

Restrictions

Minumum age of 16.
Experience required: No experience but volunteers should have an eye for design and window dressing. Ideally, volunteers are proactive and have a good communication skills.

Support

Taster available: Yes
Training details: The volunteer manager will go through Health and Safety, Fire Safety, and give an introduction to shop practices and procedures.
