Volunteer Befriender with Driving

Description

Volunteers help to reduce loneliness and enhance the wellbeing of the tenants of extra-care housing developments in Midlothian. Volunteer Befrienders provide a friendly outing on a one-to-one basis e.g. visit to garden centre, cinema or a lunch out. The Volunteer Befriender will collect the tenant, in their own car and drive together to the outing.

Restrictions

Full clean driving licence. Access to car that is insured, taxed and MOT if appropriate. Role is PVG checked
Experience required: · Good listening and communication skills · Comfortable making small talk and starting a conversation · Empathic, patient, and non-judgemental · Punctual and reliable · A warm, friendly, professional approach · Respect for confidentiality and boundaries
Travel details: Own vehicle required
Minimum age: 18

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: 25 per mile within Lothian to and from Cowan Court. 45p per mile for driving tenant to outing
Training details: Training usually on Teams followed by local induction. Support from Voluntary Service Manager and named contact at Extra Care Housing
