Description

DEBRA is a national charity and patient support organisation for people living with the rare, extremely painful, genetic skin blistering condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) also known as ‘Butterfly Skin’. EB causes the skin to become very fragile and tear or blister at the slightest touch. With your help we can find treatments and cure(s) for EB.
Volunteering in a DEBRA shop can teach you new skills as well as meeting new people and gaining experience in retail.
The role involves:

  • Operating a till to take cash and card payments
  • Engaging with customers on the shop floor
  • Replenishing stock on the shop floor
  • Recording donor details for gift aid
  • Creating eye catching displays

Organisation aims and objectives

DebRA was founded in 1978 by a group of parents whose children were affected by EB. At this time only some 200 people with EB were known to health professionals in the UK. The original aims of the charity were to stimulate knowledge of and interest in

Experience required: We don't require any specific skills or experience but you must be willing to learn (Full training will be provided.) Willing to uphold shop standards through various cleaning tasks Enjoy working with the public Reliable and good timekeeping Ability to work on your own
