Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK.

You will:

  • Share your skills and develop new ones like event planning, time management, and leadership.
  • Be a role model helping girls realise their full potential in a safe, girl-only space.
  • Actively assist Unit Leaders to create and deliver a fun programme based on the Girlguiding programme for your section.
  • Support girls in making their own decisions and developing their team and leadership skills.

You will be supported by the Unit Team and the wider District Team of Girlguiding Dunkeld. If you decide to become a member of Girlguiding, you will also have access to lots of opportunities within the framework of Girlguiding UK and WAGGGS (World Organisation of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts).

Organisation aims and objectives

Girlguiding is an organisation for girls and young women from 5 years of age. We are part of a worldwide organisation that has over 10 million members. We promote equality and diversity. We give girls and young women a voice and provide a unique girl-only space. Our programmes are girl-led and offer activities in a safe space where they can grow in self-confidence and have fun.










1-2 hours per week, plus preparation time. Occasional weekend or holiday activities if possible.


This is an adult role. There are different opportunities for Young Leaders under 18.
Experience required: Girlguiding welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities. We are flexible, and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. Travel details: Most activities happen in the Guide Hall in Little Dunkeld, but you will also go out about with the girls. Dunkeld is reasonably accessible by public transport.

Taster details: Arrange a visit our Brownie or Guide Unit with the local contact person.
Training details: Training opportunities include local training events and e-learning modules. Any other necessary training will be given on the job. Unit Helpers wishing to progress to full Unit Leadership can work towards the Adult Leadership Qualification.
