  • VO68844

Description

To join a small team of volunteers to assist in recording audio versions of "The Orcadian" which are then sent out to service users in Orkney and beyond. As a recorder you will be required to commit to approx. ine session per month, on a Thursday between noon and 3pm,
The technical set up is quite simple using a mixer and external sound card connected up to a laptop. Our recordings are made using a recording program and burnt to master discs.

Organisation aims and objectives

We provide weekly copies of articles from "The Orcadian" and quarterly copies of magazines using material from "The Orcadian", "Living Orkney" and "Orkney Farmer" magazines. These recordings are available on CD, USB stick and by podcast through our website. Our service is primarily for people with visual impairments but people with physical problems which make it difficult to hold a newspaper can also receive our recordings. Our recordings are offered free of charge and CD and USB stick players are available to listeners who need them.
