Description

We are looking to expand membership of our Strategic Board, to develop the strategic direction, support the Project's aims and objectives and ensure good governance. If you can devote some time and are motivated to assisting us we would welcome your application.
Learning and development opportunities exist for all Board members, including full induction training.
If you would like to become involved in our Board, we would love to hear from you. Board membership is voluntary and unpaid and meet 10 times a year, including ad hoc meetings, if required. We also hold an annual development day with Board members and Project Staff.
This is a great opportunity to be part of an innovative project and in return gain some essential skills and experience with a unique organisation.

Organisation aims and objectives

First Step is a community project for families with young children which is based in the Musselburgh East housing estates. First Step was set up by local parents in 1989 and is an independent voluntary organisation with a parent led management committee. First Step aims to support families with young children by providing a range of services to encourage parents and children to develop their confidence, self esteem and skills, which in turn will strength parent child relationships and build stronger communities. We cover Musselburgh, Wallyford and Whitecraig.
