Description

St John Scotland (Fife) are looking for volunteer drivers aged between 25-70 to support our patient transport service.
St John Scotland works in partnership with NHS Fife to provide patient transport for people attending renal clinics in Fife. All passengers are referred to us by NHS Fife.
The service uses dedicated St John badged vehicles which can carry up to 6 passengers allowing multiple pickups.

Organisation aims and objectives

Local St John Scotland volunteers run a Patient Transport service for renal patients at the Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline and Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. They also support communities across Fife to be resilient in the face of cardiac arrest by helping them install Public Access Defibrillators, and providing CPR awareness training.

Timings are flexible and volunteers can work as little or as many hours as they are available for. There is no minimum commitment.

Restrictions

Insurance requirement.
Experience required: Good and safe driving skills. People skills.
Travel details: The current service runs for Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline. Volunteer drivers collect passengers from their homes at a pre-arranged time, convey them to the clinic and return them home after treatment.
Minimum age: 25

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Volunteers will receive a mileage rate of 45p per mile which is the NHS rate.
Training details: Volunteers will be introduced to staff and patients, have a driving assessment and complete forms and submission.
