CARF is a Fife based charity which offers free, confidential, independent and impartial information and advice. We also provide a number of specialist projects, funded and supported by a range of local and national partners.
CARF have exciting plans for the future which you could be part of and currently have vacancies for Board Members. We are seeking committed and experienced people who are willing to share their expertise and skills to become Board Members and to sit on our Board of Directors to provide governance and strategic direction to the organisation. Board Members usually meet every 6-8 weeks in the afternoon. Volunteers will have the opportunity to attend training as required.

Organisation aims and objectives

Citizens Advice & Rights Fife (CARF) aims to tackle inequality, discrimination and disadvantage in Fife through the provision of high quality information, advice and representation services. These services are free, confidential, non-judgemental and independent. CARF also aims to influence, inform and promote change in local and national policy to enhance the social welfare of people in Fife.










Minimum 2-3 hours every 6-8 weeks as this is when meetings are normally scheduled. No minimum commitment but an expectation of commitment to attend as many meetings as possible throughout the year (approx 6).


Volunteers must work or be resident in Fife.
Experience required: If you are willing to contribute some of your valuable free time and have experience of Business Design and Development, Finance, Marketing, Governance or Strategic Planning, we would be delighted to hear from you. In addition, we are particularly keen to recruit Board Members who have particular skill sets in Digital Improvements and Human Resources.
Travel details: The opportunity takes place in Glenrothes.

Expenses details: Expenses are paid on a monthly basis.
Training details: Volunteers will be given a detailed induction pack at first meeting with the Chief Executive after becoming a Board Director. The CEO will go through this pack in detail and then arrange for the Training and Development Officer to meet with Director to look at suitable training programmes.
