Description

The Sensory Centre aims to help people who have a sensory impairment live as independently as possible. It is a place where people with a visual or hearing loss, their friends, families, carers and the wider community can access quality services and advice from our partner organisations. A wide range of social activities are also available at the centre.

We have specific opportunities for volunteers throughout the centre including:

  • drivers
  • sighted guides
  • cafe helpers
  • sensory garden assistants

There is no need to have previous experience working with people who have a sensory impairment as appropriate training will be given where needed, including an introductino to sign language. All we ask is that you have great people skills and that you are willing to learn!

You can commit from 3 hours a month with us, to several hours a week depending upon your availability. If you choose to volunteer for us, we will ensure that you are fully trained, which includes an induction and sight guide training. You will also have fantastic social opportunities, gain experience and skills, and a written reference if you require one for future employability.
