Firewood and Composting Volunteers

Description

We are looking for volunteers to join our diverse quarry team processing and producing firewood and compost. Tasks may include using machinery, assessing and bagging compost, preparing kindling and landscaping and maintenance of our existing site. The volunteer would have the opportunity to get involved in community life and gain valuable experience of working for a small charity, as well as practical experience with firewood and compost.

Based at the foot of the Pentland Hills, Tiphereth Trading is a small and exciting social enterprise. Established in 2013 to support the life and work of adults with learning disabilities and autism, we produce and sell environmentally and economically sustainable artisan products which are delivered to customers by our day service. Restrictions

Experience required: Ability to use tools, willingness to carry out a variety of outdoor tasks.
Travel details: Torphin Road, Edinburgh, EH13 0PQ. Easily accessible by Lothian Bus number 10 or parking available.
Minimum age: 18

Expenses details: We can offer transport expenses for travel to and from Tiphereth, along with a hot lunch.
Taster available: Yes
Training details: We take on volunteers in February and September each year. Induction to the site, machinery and processes will take place over the first few weeks. Further training will be provided where necessary.
