CARDS Volunteer

Exciting new opportunities have arisen with our CARDS (Community Alcohol Related Damage Service) project. We are a unique volunteer-led support service, working with people living in Edinburgh whose lives have been affected by alcohol. CARDS recognise the current gap in services for those who continue to drink and provide a service for all who have, or are at risk of ARBD. We are recruiting volunteers now, and run an open application process throughout the year.

Organisation aims and objectives

Rowan Alba is a charity set up to work with people who are at risk of becoming homeless. We believe that all individuals have the right to be treated with dignity and respect, and offer support in a person centred way, with the individual actively involved in planning their care. We work with older homeless men and women in our supported accommodation and individuals in the community who are having difficulty sustaining their current accommodation. Many of our service users would benefit from more social contact and just having someone to talk to could make a big difference to them.

We would like to offer our clients weekly visits and so 2 hours weekly is ideal. However, we do have clients who like fortnightly and monthly visits so we are flexible with the commitment. Flexible
