Cameron's Champion

Cameron’s Champions is a befriending scheme for older people in the Forres area. Volunteers are expected to be able to spend a minimum of 1-2 hours per week/fortnight for a minimum duration of 6 months. The support provided by Cameron’s Champions might include accompanying clients to social events, activities, or perhaps to attend health appointments. Most importantly they will be able to spend valuable time with the client and give individual attention and support.
Cameron’s Champions aim to help clients to build their confidence and to increase their independence by providing a listening ear and encouraging the client to get out and about to rediscover old interests and find new ones.Volunteers are being sought from the local Forres area.










2 hours per week/fortnight but this can be flexible and be matched with the need of the client. Project coordinator can provide references after a minimum 6 months of volunteering

Experience required: good listening and communication skills, ability to recognise and respect personal boundaries, commitment to project. Must have a warm, friendly nature. Be reliable, honest and trustworthy with an ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to keep calm in stressful situations.
Travel details: The opportunity is in the local area of Forres and will involve visiting older people in their own homes, attending local social groups/activities or places of interest or simply an outing in the local area. A driver with access to a car is advantageous but not essential. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.
