Description

Home-Start Clackmannanshire are a local charity supporting young vulnerable families who are struggling to get through the day due to mental health illness, disability, domestic abuse, and loneliness. Home-Start has been around in Clackmannanshire since 1988 and we’ve supported over 1000 families since then!

As a Family Support Volunteer matched with a young family you can expect to be out and about in the community, or helping out at home, going to the Park, setting routines, helping with homework, filling out forms or offering a listening ear to Mum or Dad over a cuppa.

You will work alongside a small team staff team consisting of a Manager, 3 Family Support Co-ordinators and a Senior Administrator.

You will have access to a Family Support Co-ordinator throughout your volunteering experience who will support and guide you (although the whole team is here for you )

All Volunteers attend an 8-week Volunteer Preparation Course (once a week for 3 hours – day-time or evening) covering topics such as Child Protection, Listening Skills, Working with Families – the course is interactive, informative and fun!

No formal skills or experience are necessary to carry out this role. However, a passion for life, empathy towards families and their issues, and a good sense of humour are a definite!

We will provide an ongoing Training Calendar to engage with other local agencies, to bring Volunteers together and learn new skills.

Monthly Supervision Sessions will take place with a Co-ordinator either in the Home-Start Office or in the Volunteers home (whatever is easiest for Volunteer).
