Main Contact Volunteer – For Those Trying to Become Parents

Description

Main Contact volunteers will help to support people who are facing fertility issues in their local area by developing friendships, recruit new volunteers, reduce isolation by organising social activities and helping those who need much needed support by providing advice and peer support

Provide advice, information and peer support to local volunteers who wish to join the volunteer network
*Help to recruit more volunteers in the local area
*Main point of contact for local issues and pass to Volunteer Co-ordinator or Head Office as necessary
*Promote Fertility Network Scotland services and campaigns to people in local community by distributing leaflets etc
*Attend events to promote and/or fundraise for Fertility Network Scotland
*Help organise and support our events in the local area

Fertility Network Scotland provides advice, information and support for anyone affected by fertility issues. We work to raise awareness of the impact of fertility problems and campaign for fair provision of fertility treatment throughout Scotland.

Good training and support is provided. By volunteering you can help those who need support. All help is greatly appreciated.

The national charity, here for anyone who has ever experienced fertility problems. Fertility Network Scotland provides advice, information and support to anyone affected by fertility issues. We raise awareness of the impact of fertility problems and campaign for fair provision of fertility treatment throughout Scotland.

Experience required: Good communication skills, reliability and trustworthiness.
Travel details: In local area.
Minimum age: 16

Training details: Good training and support is provided to all volunteers. Includes ongoing support from Volunteer Co-ordinator.

Macmillan Libraries Volunteer

You will you work in your choice of one of the 7 libraries in Angus. Some work in the community may be required. Each of the libraries has a Macmillan ‘Pod’, this has a seating areas along with various leaflets and booklets for self help. Volunteers would be based in the pods and would maintain and support people. Duties and responsibilities: A mixture of duties will available including: Welcoming people at our Macmillan drop-in sessions and information points, responding to enquiries and providing support and assistance, signposting people to support; groups and 121 sessions. You may also be asked to help with stock taking. Opportunities to get involved in fundraising will also be available. At the Forfar Library maintain Macmillan you will host our Green Room and keep it in good order. The Green Room is a new refurbished therapy room used for prosthetic and wig fittings, complementary treatments and any other support that can be offered. This room saves those undergoing treatment having to travel to Ninewells Hospitals or further afield to Perth. This room is open to all those undergoing treatment across Angus.

Community Ambassador Volunteer

What you would be doing: • Have personal experience of chronic pain • Representing Pain Concern • Build a network with local GP surgeries, NHS health board. • Attend Pain Management groups (virtually or in person). • Signpost to helpline, Pain Concern information leaflets, Airing Pain etc • Carry out research into community groups, local events and businesses in your area, so that you can contact them to attend fayres, exhibitions etc • Attend cheque presentations and local events officially thanking donors and hosts for their support • Adhere to Pain Concern’s policies and procedures at all times • Attend training and volunteer meetings • Keep your Volunteer Manager up to date on your activities, including the contacts you’ve made and talks that you’ve arranged.

Support Group Volunteer

As a Support Group volunteer with Fertility Network Scotland, volunteers will benefit from helping others in the area with fertility issues. Volunteers may develop friendships, meet and work with new people to provide a network of much needed and valued support in their area. As a Support Group Volunteer you will take care of all aspects of the group including: Act as a main contact for the group, Organise and maintain an email circulation list of attendees, Arrange speakers for group meetings, Organise room bookings, Organise social activities, Support and advise other group volunteers, Promote group in local area, Adhere to Fertility Network Scotland policies and procedures. Fertility Network Scotland provides advice, information and support for anyone affected by fertility issues. We also work to raise awareness of the impact of fertility problems and to campaign for fair provision of fertility treatment throughout Scotland.

Student Ambassador Volunteer

You can help by representing and raising awareness of Fertility Network Scotland charity in places of education and in the local area to highlight the services and support we provide. This can include: *Promoting the charity by displaying posters and leaflets *Highlight our campaigns and projects to fellow students and lecturers etc including through social media *Assist Fertility Network Scotland staff at events such as Freshers Week This benefits of this opportunity include:- *Meeting and working with new people, learning new skills which would benefit future applications to further education or employment while having fun, gain experience of event participation, fundraising and charity sector in general, knowledge that your support will help people in Scotland experiencing fertility problems.
