Clan’s Listening and Support volunteers are the key points of contact for clients accessing our range of free practical services and emotional support at our Wellbeing Centres across the North East, including Moray. Listening & Support Volunteers currently help a wide range of people affected by cancer, including those with a cancer diagnosis, carers, colleagues, family members and friends by offering an impartial, confidential listening ear. Support can be given either in person or on the telephone. Clan is in urgent need of volunteers in Elgin and the surrounding areas of Lossiemouth and Forres. If you are caring, compassionate, an effective listener and available to volunteer for 4 hours at a time (on week days) either weekly, fortnightly or monthly for a minimum of 12 months, we’d love to hear from you!

Restrictions

Experience required: There are no prerequisites for this role in terms of professional qualifications and Clan will provide you with the relevant training and on-going supervision to support you in your volunteer role. However some experience in support skills, listening, health and social care and 3rd sector would be an advantage. We value personal experience and would welcome anyone without the preferred skills and experience, but are passionate about making a difference.
Travel details: Support required in Elgin, Lossie, Forres.

Your role as a Clan listening and Support volunteer is essential in helping to provide our vital Listening and Support service to people affected by cancer diagnosis in your local community. The listening and support service offers a welcoming, relaxed, safe and confidential environment for people to talk about the cancer experience with someone who can listen and provide emotional and wellbeing support either face to face or by telephone. Volunteer Befriender

We're looking for an adult volunteer who will provide a supportive friendship for a socially isolated young person aged between 8 and 18 who lives in South Ayrshire. Ideally this will involve meeting with their young person every couple of weeks for a few hours, spending time together accessing local activities. This includes: • Be matched on a 1:1 basis with a young person. • Go on regular outings and activities with the young person. • Have the opportunity to participate in group outings/activities and also volunteer support sessions. • Keeping in touch with the Project about the young person’s achievements / growth and activities, and to receive ongoing support from the Project. • Open minded as the Project works with young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. • Following training, to be able to have empathy and understanding of some of the issues encountered by young people referred to the Project. • Continuous focus on the needs of the young person who you are matched with. • Willing to participate in a broad range of activities mutually agreed with the young person. • To be a positive adult role model for the young person and, very importantly, to have FUN! • Have an awareness of and be able to adhere to the Project’s policies and procedures.

Support Assistant Volunteers

Early Intervention is a neurodivergent safe space for neuro divergent children and their families. A non-judgmental environment where you can be your true authentic self. Managed by volunteers we offer specialist support - Speech and Language therapy, Music Therapy, Pet therapy, and opportunities for children up to 9 years old to socialise with their neurokin whilst empowering them to embrace their identity, we also offer opportunities for semi structured play, arts and crafts and sensory messy play. Looking for friendly volunteers to help us support families at sessions, no experience necessary but would especially love to hear from those with lived experience - neurodivergent adults and or people with a close connection to neurodiversity or ASN for example an autistic family member. Although no experience is necessary, we would love to hear from any practicing/retired or student Speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, play therapists, teachers, or those with experience in social care and early years childcare. Early Intervention is a volunteer-led organisation which has been providing services to neurodivergent children and their families since February 2022. This is an exciting time to get involved with us as we are seeking to develop the services we offer and to look at making the transition to becoming a Scottish Charity. FRESH Volunteers

Fresh Community Wellness is a growing grassroots charity, registered Scottish Charity Number, SC051346. We operate out of Aberdeen city, working within a (S.I.M.D) high neighbourhood to create lasting change and build a legacy for the future. Predominantly in Seaton neighbourhoods and outdoors, we work with volunteers/residents, with a salutogenic approach to community wellness.
