Conversation Cafe Volunteer

  • VO63935

We are looking for committed volunteers to be trained and work with Fife's international community, and to lead informal conversation cafe classes in a relaxed atmosphere. Conversation Cafes are a safe and relaxed place for people to learn English and to gain confidence using the language.
You don't need a special qualification in teaching English to become our volunteer, as classes are very informal and are a great opportunity to meet other people and learn about their culture. Conversation Cafes are for people who are living in the UK but who do not speak English as a first language. These students are most commonly refugees and immigrants and need to learn the language in order to help them settle into UK society. Occasionally we will be inviting speakers from the NHS, Fife Council, Fife Cultural Trust and will welcome any suggestions from the group.
