Families First Youth Groups run on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening (6:30-8pm), for small groups to socialise and have fun. The young people (aged 12-16), volunteers and staff develop the programme of activities together, ensuring that the young people are respected and included. These activities can include pizza making, board games, and sports. Through these activities, they help children and young people to improve their emotional wellbeing and confidence, improve their social and team building skills, and encourage them to interact positively with each other. For example, one service user said: “I feel at home and I feel like I have more confidence.” Their Youth Groups are specifically designed to support young people with the additional support needs. They aim for an adult young person ratio of one adult to two young people to ensure their needs are being met and relationships are built.

We are looking for volunteers to help at our various youth provisions. We have a youth art group that runs every Friday evening and we also have children and families cooking classes. The volunteer role will involve working with our youth worker and project worker to deliver art groups, cooking groups or other groups as part of our youth provision. The role will include, setting up and tidying up before and after sessions, working with the young people on various projects, engaging with the young people to help them develop and to find out what they would like to do.To adhere to our safeguarding policy and follow all relelvant procedures.

Supporting staff to plan and facilitate group activities for primary aged children in Kinship care, this group volunteering role would suit someone who is confident and enthusiastic and wants to work with young people. The volunteering role would be from 4pm to 6.30pm every Tuesday during term time, and would support the facilitator to set up the activity and clean up afterwards. There may be additional opportunities during the school holidays.

The Primrose Community Trust are looking for youth work volunteers (16+) to help at various sessions for young people in Crossgates in Fife. The sessions would involve setting up, taking part in the sessions, and encouraging young people to be active participants, tidying up, taking part in the evaluation at the end of sessions. The sessions will be working with the youth work team and will be on a rota basis, so will not have to volunteer every week if this is not manageable.
