Description

The Caf4e & Company Lunch Club is working with Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership to address the problem of social isolation among older people in Bridge of Don. The Lunch Club runs once a fortnight on Fridays and provides a nutritious hot meal along with activities and entertainment and the opportunity for members and volunteers to socialise and develop friendships. Volunteers benefit as they find themselves involved in a community where they are able to help others but also receive support, encouragement and friendship. We provide a warm and welcoming environment and volunteers are able to choose which tasks suit them best – driving, social interaction & hosting tables, practical tasks, befriending.

Y Knot Drop- in Lunch Club Volunteers

*Help with soup making and/or serving, supporting and socializing at our fantastic Y Knot Drop- in Lunch Club* You would be joining a team of volunteers, helping to provide a safe, welcoming space where visitors can relax and enjoy a friendly chat and a variety of activities, such as cards, dominoes and occasionaly crafts. Our visitors are people from all walks of life who need support to deal with challenges to their mental health. Volunteers can choose from a variety of options: >9.30am to 2.30pm Making soup, serving, joining in activities or >12noon to 2.30pm Serving, helping to clear up, joining in activities. (Everyone has lunch together) A monthly rota ensures that volunteers can tailor their volunteering times to fit in with other commitments. Some work once a month, others every week or once a fortnight. We would be happy to discuss details with you should you decide to apply-and we're hoping that you will. Preliminary visits would be very welcome. Training and support is also provided and all volunteers are greatly appreciated. Ward Volunteer

Ward volunteers can choose to help with serving teas and coffees or to help during mealtimes. Having extra support during these busy ward routines is invaluable and extremely helpful to all on the ward. Tea Trolley • Moving the trolley from room to room. • Providing patients with a drink of their choice. • Chatting to patients and taking an interest in them. • Passing on any useful information to medical staff. Mealtimes • Prepare the patient area for mealtimes. • Help distribute meal trays to patients and return trays when meals are complete. • Cutting up food for vulnerable patients and assisting with patient feeding. • Provide general assistance as requested by staff.

Kincorth Community Centre Hub Volunteers

The Kincorth Community Centre Hub has great volunteer opportunities to assist with a range of activities at the Hub. Volunteer roles include supporting our busy community cafe, which has rapidly taken off, we currently open 9.30 -2.30, but our aim is to run a breakfast and supper club, as well as have the cafe open for activities in the evening. We have a diverse community that has a lot to offer e.g.: art classes/exercise group/dance class/music lessons and we are always open to new ideas-we are more or less a blank canvass. Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Level 2 Hygiene Certificate will be offered to those who want to volunteer/cook in the café. Any other training would be reviewed and provided if proved relevant. A fantastic, enjoyable opportunity to volunteer and help make a real difference for people and the community.
