Opening More Doors is a fund-raising group based in Alloa, which raises money for local charities. The members of the group have three main aims: to raise money for chosen charities — normally three each year; to raise awareness of the charity with which they are working; and to enjoy working with friends to help others. Launched in 2005, it has raised over £105,000 in the last nine years for local charities. The members raise funds by hosting approximately 5 events each year. They are currently looking for volunteers able to assist with these events in a variety of roles - from manning a stall, to baking, to preparing and serving teas and coffees.

The events are spread throughout the year, and usually consist of things such as:

  • A ladies lunch
This event is for members who wish to attend. If you would like to become a member in addition to volunteering, there is a membership fee of £5 per year
  • Ceilidh
There's lots of opportunities to get involved, from assisting with the supper, to ticket sales.
  • Bridge event
This is usually very popular, and again there are many areas to get involved with depending on your interests
  • Afternoon Tea
These events are brilliant and there are always lots going on - from a band, to crazy golf, or even a treasure hunt!

Organisation aims and objectives

We choose 3 charities each year, our aim is to raise awareness of the Charities , fund raise for these charities and work with them where we can.
