Macmillan Move More Gentle Movement Instructor

This is a perfect opportunity to be part of an innovative project aimed at people affected by cancer. As part of the programme you will be asked to lead a 12 week block of Gentle Movement classes which will be based in community libraries and centres around Dundee.
You will have to set up, pack up and tidy before and after session. You may be required to deliver alone or alongside another instructor. Taking a register of those attending the class & returning this to the Move More team. You will have to attend core training and support sessions and participate in the evaluation of the Move More Dundee Gentle Movement groups.
You will be a valued volunteer and a vital part of the team. Make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer in your local community. Develop knowledge and experience of the benefits of exercise for people affected by cancer. There will be regular social activities with other volunteers on the Move More Programme. You will have access to training and experiences to enhance your CV.

Organisation aims and objectives

The four main service delivery areas are now: Halls and Music Development; Fine and Applied Art; Museum Services; and Learning and Engagement. Cultural Services provide the operation, management,development and promotion of arts, heritage, cultural and science services throughout the city through access to high quality educational resources, promoting inclusion in delivering outreach activities.










We are looking for a weekly commitment of about 2 hours per week


The programme is aimed at adults over 18 at the moment, although we will soon be looking at extending this to people under 18 in the future. So at the moment the lower limit for volunteers is 18.
Experience required: The instructors don’t have to have any experience at all as the classes are designed to be a gentle introduction to physical activity. All the training for delivering the sessions is offered for all volunteers.
Travel details: The walks take place across Dundee.
Minimum age: 18


Expenses details: We will reimburse travel to the venue and also to training, whether that is train, bus or car. Though we will work with the volunteer to place them in the most appropriate venue.
Taster available: Yes
Taster details: If the volunteer wants to participate on one of the sessions to get a feel for the role, we are happy to arrange this and the volunteer can meet the other volunteers and participants who take part in the sessions so they have a rough idea of what is expected and also they to experience the enjoyable atmosphere while in the session.
