Aberdeen Arts Centre is recognised nationally as an inclusive community hub which hosts arts activities across a wide demographic. With our ethos of “everyone is entitled to an enriching cultural life, regardless of age or social circumstance”, we are a truly intergenerational organisation, with performing arts tuition at the heart of what we do. More than 100,000 individuals pass through our doors each year, with over 40 professional, amateur and youth companies who rely on us.

Our backbone is our strong, dedicated volunteer base and we have a range of volunteer opportunities that people can get involved in including café volunteers, bar volunteers, front of house assistants, box office and reception support.

All volunteers are greatly appreciated and provided with excellent support.

Training details: Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Includes a short training session (3 hours) involving talks and a tour of the building. All volunteers are offered supported introductory shifts i.e.: shadow an experienced volunteer on the first shift.

We are currently looking for volunteers. You can combine all three of the roles below or partake in just one area that interests you. Opportunities to Volunteer include: • Front of House • Café • Bar Front of House volunteers are responsible for greeting the audience, showing them to their seats and ensuring their well-being throughout the evening. Café and Bar volunteers serve customers drinks and snacks before the show and in the interval. The bar may also remain open after the show for customers to stay and relax. Full training will be provided for each position and you will be supported by our experienced team of current volunteers and staff throughout your time with us. Whether you can commit to several nights a week or only a few nights a month, we'd love to hear from you! A fantastic opportunity to help at a leading arts, culture, community venue and charity. Outdoor Education Assistant

An exciting opportunity to join the Under the Trees team, working in the great and beautiful outdoors whilst gaining valuable experience working with young children and young adults. You will potentially be working in all weathers and in all seasons - we can provide waterproofs! Under the Trees runs fun and educational sessions for school children in the Falkirk and Stirling areas, as well as a programme of public events for all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Events run all year round. As a Volunteer Education Assistant, there will be opportunities for you to do a range of the following: - Assist with Educational Sessions for school groups, including term-time forest schools. - Assist with sessions for the general public, including a monthly nature club for ages 0-13. - Assist with holiday play sessions and family events. - Plan and lead in activities. - Maintain resources effectively. - Keep session areas safe and tidy. - Desk-based activities in planning, creating materials and administration.

School Volunteer (Stirling)

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) encourages and supports people aged 50+ to volunteer in their local communities. We are currently looking for people who are interested in volunteering within primary schools, in the Stirling area. In this role, you may support pupils with reading, writing, or arithmetic in small groups. Alternatively there are opportunities to support the teacher in the classroom environment during arts and crafts, music, drama or other activities. The activities that you carry out are flexible and can be agreed between yourself and the school. Flexible volunteering hours is also available to suit your needs.

Knitting Volunteer (Dunblane)

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) encourages and supports people aged 50+ to volunteer in their local communities. We are looking for people who are interested in knitting items for charity. We have 2 Knitting Groups, one in Alloa and one in Dunblane. Both meet in person every 3 months and are an opportunity for knitters to get together, make friends, and compare knitting projects. The group offers free wool, advice, and support. Knitters knit various items such as blankets, hats, and scarfs which are donated onto care homes and other charities. Other knitting materials include premature baby clothing which is gifted to the NHS. Knitters choose what they would like to create, and how they would like their knitting to be donated.
