Social Cafe Volunteer

  • VO61839

Just two hours out of your week could make an older persons day! Help reduce loneliness and social isolation by volunteering at one of the (socially distanced) social cafes. The cafe offers older people the chance to meet others for a chat over a cup of tea (or coffee). We also offer quizzes and a range of other activities.

You will get to know the service users and build a positive relationship with them. You will do this by:

  • meeting and greeting the members as they arrive,
  • offering refreshments and clearing away at the end,
  • building a positive relationship with members by chatting to them and getting to know them,
  • helping members to take part in the activities where necessary, such as giving out pens and paper for the quizzes.
  • attending volunteer meetings and information sessions to help you with this role
  • encouraging members to maintain social distancing and adhere to COVID restrictions
  • raising any concerns with the Project Workers or Assistant Project Workers

Organisation aims and objectives

LinkLiving offer support through our Steps to Resilience programme, for young people between the ages of 14 and 25. Steps To Resilience is a 10-week trauma-informed personal development programme which equips young people with practical skills to manage their mental health and increase their resilience to cope with challenges. It is based on the belief that young people can be supported to turn the survival tools they have gained through adverse circumstances into positive skills ultimately leading to getting them into work or other positive destinations. We run courses for 14-16 year old non-school attenders, and for young people aged 16-25 years.

We would welcome someone who can give a long-term commitment
