Description

Contact the Elderly has been organising volunteer-led tea parties for groups of isolated older people for 50 years now. We have almost 600 groups in the UK , 90 of those are in Scotland and we have one in West Lothian, with plans to get a Bathgate group launched when we have enough volunteers.
Our volunteers play a vital role in helping alleviate isolation and loneliness among older people in the community.

Organisation aims and objectives

Contact the Elderly is a national charity and organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for people over 75 who live alone with little or no support from family and friends. One Sunday afternoon a month volunteers use their car to take older members to and from a volunteer host’s home for tea, cake and companionship. Hosts take it in turn to welcome the small group of older people and volunteer drivers into their home for a few hours.
