We all need to stay at home to protect ourselves and others. However, those who are well and not at risk can provide essential support for their family, friends and neighbours who cannot leave the house.
Please note, organisations are currently experiencing a large volume of enquiries from people looking to help out. They may not always be able to meet this demand so please be patient, you may not receive a quick response or be assigned to a role.
We are recruiting volunteers to assist with a befriending service for older adults in a care home/sheltered housing setting alongside other befrienders. Main tasks include:
-befriend service users, improving their quality of life and reduce social isolation by spending time and share activities with the client.
-flexible times available to suit volunteers.
-establish and maintain appropriate boundaries within the befriending relationship.
-deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive material.
-undertake the TLC Volunteer befriender induction programme and attend support and training meetings.
-report any concerns to the project co-ordinator.
-complete the necessary administrative tasks (Record of Companion Contact)
-work within a non-discriminatory framework.
-A volunteer befriender will not be asked to meet any personal care needs
A great opportunity to help and make a real difference to the lives of older people. For further details please contact Richard Brooks (Chair, TLC Charity) at e-mail email@example.com or tel.: 07595221068.
