Description

Our Shoppers are a core part of the Food Train volunteering team ensuring older people in Renfrewshire are supplied with fresh groceries at affordable prices. The Shoppers shop from the grocery lists provided by our members, checking quantities and sizes are correct. When all shops are complete volunteers assist in putting the groceries through the check-out, into correctly labelled and carefully packed containers, and passed to our delivery teams.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our aim is to support older people to live independently at home. Our preventative services address the difficulty older people face getting their weekly grocery shopping, doing jobs around the house and the growing isolation that comes with failing health. We also aim to provide a wide range of supported volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and ability and these include shopper, driver, delivery assistant and office assistant.
