Pet Fostering Service Scotland provide short term care for pets, when their owner is unable to do so through illness, homelessness or domestic abuse and cannot arrange any alternative care. We are looking for volunteer foster carers for these pets who would be responsible for meeting the daily needs of the pets in your care, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, exercising and socialising until the pet is returned to its owner. Pet costs such as food and veterinary fees will be met by the owner.

The Cats Whiskers is a small local charity set up in 2018 and has since gone from strength to strength, leading to the opening of the new rehoming shelter in late 2022. Their charity relies on the support of their many volunteers who freely give their time and talents. The group operate based solely on fundraising, donations and volunteers to continue to look after the cats in their care and always need dedicated, reliable volunteers that can help out and of course, new volunteers are always welcome. They are a passionate team who want the best for their feline friends and nothing gives them more pleasure than to see them happy in their ‘forever’ homes. Cat's Whiskers are looking for volunteers for the role of Animal Carer with the flexibility to be on short notice standby to cover absences for holidays or illness. Their animal rescue and rehoming shelter is based in Alloa and operates a shift pattern of morning (9-11) and evening (5-7) Monday to Sunday and if you become one of their volunteers, you will be asked to indicate what your availability is to help with planning cover. The tasks you will be asked to perform will include: • preparing food and feeding • cleaning out pens (sweeping, brushing blankets and beds, mopping and disinfecting floors and walls) • cleaning and disinfecting cat litter trays and food bowls • Lifting used cat litter bags into the refuse bin • observing each cat’s behaviour and writing up notes on their individual chart • putting away of stock and general cleaning in the shelter • following verbal and written procedures to support the care and welfare of their cats

Murton Trust is a registered charity and Murton Farm, Tea Room and Nature Reserve is also a popular visitor attraction based 2 miles outside of Forfar, Angus and our volunteer programme is for anyone aged 14 and over. We have many young volunteers who help at weekends and in the holidays when they can. Are you 14-8yrs with a few hours to spare? Would you like to get involved in helping Murton Trust? Do you have a few hours to spare? Would you like to get involved in helping Murton Trust? As an adult volunteer with us you can share a particular skill you have whether that be organisational providing office support, photography social media and estate management. However, experience or specific skill set is not needed as we will provide training to volunteers. If you have the ability to work independently this is highly advantageous, however, should you require a bit of support this is also available for a limited number of people too.
