Description

Volunteer shoppers provide a weekly food shopping service for older people across Dumfries who struggle to do their own shopping. Volunteer shoppers are required in the following supermarkets Morrison's, Tesco and M&S in Dumfries to assist making up shopping orders for Food Train customers. Shoppers must be able to read shopping lists and identify correct products which might be important for the health and diet requirements of an older person. Volunteer shoppers meet at either Morrison's/Tesco or M&S from approximately 8.30 am onwards on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings

Organisation aims and objectives

Our aim is to support older people to live independently at home. Our preventative services address the difficulty older people face getting their weekly grocery shopping, doing jobs around the house and the growing isolation that comes with failing health. We also aim to provide a wide range of supported volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and ability and these include shopper, driver, delivery assistant and office assistant.
